The reason Instagram is a powerful platform that carries massive value for brands. Today, it has over 600 million active monthly users. This implies that all of the people that brands try to target are mostly available on Instagram. I actually never taught People could make money on Instagram by just writing about a product or snapping with a product, some People are making lots of money by being an influencer on Instagram and am going to be sharing with you what I have learnt. Check out my most recent video that I did trying to promote a hair company with over 7,000 views. So yes you can make money by being an influencer.

1. Find your niche:

If you want to become a social media influencer, the very first thing you need to do is to choose a specific niche where you want to be known.

Although most social media influencers start out posting content, they’re passionate about, what sets them apart is the fact that they tend to focus on a particular niche within the industry they’re passionate about.

2. Do Not Buy Followers:

This is a rookie mistake I’ve seen so many Instagrammers make to pave an easy road to success. Paid followers are no good to you. If you want to become an Instagram influencer and make money, organic is the way to go.

Yes, I know it’s not easy and it certainly won’t happen overnight. But hey, there’s no easy road to success. Paid followers can be detrimental to your growth because these followers won’t be engaged enough. So your follower count will increase without any substantial increase in engagement.

The result? It will affect your engagement rate big time. Thus reducing your chances of collaboration with brands.

3. Engage with your followers:

When your followers leave a question or comment on your posts, take the time to acknowledge and respond to them. That can make them feel like they’re valued and that you sincerely want to help them. It will also help you develop a relationship with them.

4. Get In Touch With Brands:

Once you have thousands of followers under your belt, you can start reaching out to brands.

You can participate in their campaigns or use their brand-related hashtags in your posts. This puts your account under their radar.

You can also send them a DM or contact them via email. Send a simple pitch to let them know how a collaboration with you could benefit them.

You won’t get a reply instantly and not all brands will partner up with you, but you’ll get positive responses eventually

5. Post new contents often:

There are studies about Instagram post frequency. While it’s best to post at least once a day, the number of times you should post, isn’t definite. However, it’s important is to maintain your post frequency. If there’s a drop in your weekly engagement, then your posts will be ranked lower on Instagram’s algorithm. Meaning that it will show on fewer user’s feeds.

The good news is you can schedule posts in advance with an Instagram scheduler like Schedugram.

6. Engagement pods:

For a post to go viral it must be deemed “high quality” by the algorithm. The algorithm judges the quality of posts by looking at things such as engagement ratios. Engagement ratios are stats that count, for example, how many people saw the post and then engaged with it, i.e. comparing total reach to total engagement. The higher this number is the better quality the post is, as judged by the algorithm. The “high-quality” posts will then be featured on the Explore page. This is the secret to posts going viral on Instagram.

Engagement pods are most effective when the accounts involved are within the same niche, e.g. models with models. If, for example, you’re a comedy influencer, you should partner up with meme pages and other relevant influencers for the best results. The objective is to have accounts in your engagement group that have followers that would be a relevant audience for you.

7. Invest in a high quality camera or photographer

Having quality images makes all the difference on Instagram. Brands are looking for the best of the best to accurately represent their products, services and locations. Because of this, they’re not likely to work with someone who struggles to capture quality images so you definitely need to make this a priority!
