Many People have neglected going to college to get a degree and rather venture  in the music industry due to the fact that there are a lot of popular celebrities who never studied music or have a primary knowledge about music but are making waves in the music industry with just their talent of singing.
College is a beautiful place to be, you don’t need to get a degree from the college before you start a music career. If you want to be a performer you probably won’t need an educational degree but if you are planning to start your own record label, promotions company, management firm or some other music related venture, I would advice you go for the training.
Going to college to study music or getting the necessary trainings to become better in music is a very good idea, because this will add to the knowledge you have and also give you an edge when you are performing or producing your music, but I always tell People that if they don’t have the capital for the start up or running they can just focus on developing themselves, what’s important in music is your passion and the grace of God. There are lot of People that have gone to School to study music and they are still no were in the music industry, there are People that didn’t go to get a degree and they are doing really well in the music industry while there are People that got the degrees and they are doing well. What am I trying to say? Getting a degree is very good but if you don’t have the passion for music you won’t go far.
I wish I studied music, I am sure I would have gone far because that’s what knowledge does , were you want to go or be and you’ve not gotten there is as a result of what you don’t know, this means that whatever you want to be in life and you are not there yet it’s because of the things you don’t know, try to know even if it means getting a degree.
I recently met a girl who told me of her dreams, She told me She wanted to go to School to study music and I was so happy for her, the first question I ask her was “what did your parent say?” And She told me they were okay with it, I was really happy because here in Nigeria where most People believe in studying professional courses, it’s really encouraging to see some People going after their dreams. I encouraged her and told her that She should not give up, She was on the right path since She already have the passion for music.
Everyone needs to study and get more knowledge but sometimes the best knowledge are not only gotten from getting degrees just in case you are not opportune to get a degree, get Books on music and read, thank God for YouTube, you can always go there and learn new things every time.
