After my graduation, I went to Abuja in pursuit of my Master degree. I was told that I wasn’t allowed to go to the country of my choice until after my service. I returned home to Lagos and did nothing but serve in Church. God gave me the opportunity to see and fall in love with Abuja, so much so that I decided to do my NYSC there. I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy process so I prepared. I went for the registration very early. I put Abuja as my first choice and 2 other states. From then I began to pray for my first choice to be chosen as my place of service. When the results came out, I was posted to Abuja, as I had prayed and desired.
My mom was hesitant and didn’t really want me to go, but she had no choice. My camp experience was a terrible one. I hated camp and almost everything about it. We had a clique of Landmark and Covenant University alumni. That was the only fun thing I found in camp. These guys however were more interested in showing their wild sides that they couldn’t show whilst in school. I almost became bad… I wanted to feel among and act like my platoon members from different schools. Well God blocked it. I kept falling sick and at a point I had to go home. After service, I was posted to Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) as my place of primary assignment (PPA)….. and was stuck with the problem of accommodation, just like most Corp members in Abuja. When I told my mom about it, she told me to relocate back to Lagos. I refused because I was so sure that it wasn’t God’s plan for me.
When I told the people at my PPA about my problem, they told me that the only way they could help me is by posting me to a school in a village in Abuja, where I could be given accommodation. I accepted it and went there but I wasn’t satisfied with it. I went for a pre-Shiloh encounter service and wrote down all my requests. Against what common sense demanded, I obeyed the Holy Spirit and went home so as to attend Shiloh even though I wasn’t settled yet in Abuja.
It was in Shiloh at Cannanland, Ota, Ogun state that my NYSC Placement was settled. I served as an Usher during the event and I was at my duty post when I met the CEO of a very big company in Abuja, who promised to give me a Job as soon as I got back to Abuja. It was a major testimony in my life. When I got back to Abuja I was lodged in a hotel fully paid by the company, till they paid for an accommodation for me. I was earning double of what my colleagues were earning. I was settled supernaturally.
There was a point during my service year that I felt disconnected from God and I started “going astray” God helped me by making my friend to take me to the Commonwealth Of Zion Assembly (COZA). That place became my Power house. I became more interested in the things of God, my relationship with the Holy Spirit was on a higher level and I began to grow spirituality and God was blessing me so much that I had favor on me all through service.
It was during an evening service in COZA that I discovered my purpose After service I had to seek God in Prayer and fasting on the next step to take… I was certain that Abuja was God’s ordained Location for me, but I wasn’t sure if God wanted me to keep working at my PPA as a full staff. After a long time of Prayer and fasting, I heard from the Holy Spirit to leave after service. It was difficult but I obeyed. I turned down the offer to be retained in my office and went home.
Things became quite difficult for me. And I entered a “wilderness situation” as I like to call it. I looked for jobs to no avail and almost got frustrated, but God helped me…. Trust me it was so bad. I was broke and hopeless. But thank God for my connection in His Blessed house….. I kept listening to messages from my pastor and stayed trusting God. There was this one message I listened through almost a hundred times… it was called “The covenant of wealth.” I learnt how to deal with the spirit of fear, stay trusting in God and keep getting direction from the Holy Spirit…
There were times I regretted not taking the Job from my PPA. I began to ask God if I had heard wrongly. I even considered going back to take the job…. I just however stayed trusting God. I was assured that he had a better plan. So I focused on my vision, which is a Christian website with a blog. It was during this time of trial that I was introduced into Real Estate business. Although it was very hard but I closed my first deal in 2 months and in four months, I made over a million naira.
There was a message my Pastor, The Reverend Biodun Fatoyinbo preached about increasing my stream of income so I looked for a job in line with marketing. I got a job in less than a week… In less than two months, I broke the company’s record for the year. God has been helping me since then and it has been going from one level of Glory to the next. I’m glad I obeyed the Holy Spirit when I did. You can never go wrong when you stick with God.
